Extending Minor Chords

 

In this video we show the most economical way to understand how to easily extend minor 7th chords to the 9th, 11, 13 using a concept called 2 over 1.  The keyboard is shown in the video and arrows point to the correct notes. The best scale to use to highlight the extensions is shown. Scott Wilson also plays a video demonstration at the end of the video that showcases the sound of each extension.

Pentatonic Options on Minor Chords

 

In this video we show the 6 pentatonic scales contained within a Dorian minor scale.  The video demonstrates the sound of each pentatonic over the C minor chord.

Extending Dominant Chords

 

In this video we show the most economical way to understand how to easily extend basic dominant chords to the 9th, #11, 13 or b9 b5using a concept called 2 over 1 (respectively the major 2 triad over dominant or b2 minor triad over dominant).  The keyboard is shown in the video and arrows point to the correct notes.  The best scale to use to highlight the extensions is shown.
